Uncomfortably Numb
Living Through Trump 2.0
Americans have for the most part become accustomed to the almost hourly barrage of outrageous assaults on our senses by the MAGA cabal of criminal psychopaths running our country into the ground. Their daily avalanche of lies, constant commission of crimes of almost limitless proportions by Trump and his fellow felons, the threats made against judges, democrats, pundits, law enforcement officials, political enemies, universities, law firms, media corporations, comedians, allied nations, NATO, the EU, Zelensky, Argentina, Nigeria, Canada, Mexico, Greenland, Denmark, the “radical left”, Antifa, communists, the “enemy within” and numerous others have left us dazed, confused and just fucking numb. At least I am.
I am also more enraged and energized for the defense of my nation than I have ever been in my life.
The latest kick in the gut to our fast eroding system of laws was the recent series of pardons by Trump for all of the most senior architects of the January 6, 2021 insurrection/coup. The list of scumbags and traitors includes Rudi Giuliani, Mark Meadows, Sidney Powell, John Eastman, and Jenna Ellis. A worse list of loathsome creatures would be hard to find, unless one searched the West Wing of the White House, Mar-a-Lago, or the offices of any congressional republicans.
These highly educated attorneys gleefully and intentionally violated their oaths to the U.S. Constitution and every legal ethic by participating in what was without any doubt an attempted coup to overturn a lawful election and subvert the will of the American electorate. In every way that matters, they led an open rebellion, an insurrection against the government of the United States of America. That folks, is treason. And now the leader of that insurrection, Donald Trump, has just pardoned them. Lest we forget, on his first day in office for his second term as president on January 20, 2025, he also pardoned almost 1,500 of the lower ranking traitorous scumbags who physically carried out his violent insurrection both in front of and inside the Capitol building on that day.
In a normal world, the pardon of these two groups of traitors would be more than enough to have any American president impeached, convicted by the Senate and removed from office. In that normal world of our fantasies, the disgraced American president would then be made into a national pariah, banished to the wasteland of political obscurity and possibly even forced to leave the country to find refuge in some third world “shithole” with a Best Forever Friend (BFF) dictator he could suck up to for the rest of his miserable life. In that normal world of our fantasies, any other outcome to such un-American and traitorous actions would be unthinkable.
Unfortunately, we do not live in that normal world of our fantasies. Of God, do I wish we did! No, we live in the continuing nightmare world of Donald Trump and MAGA, where mentally deranged criminals, fascists and traitors control the government, law enforcement and military forces of the United States of America. A nightmare world that continues to attack the senses of what remains of the sane people still living in this nation. A nightmare world that leaves people like me and many millions of others like me feeling mentally and physically exhausted and numb, and usually not very comfortably.
