The World Is Losing Focus On Ukraine

Russia's plan to divert world attention to the Middle-East is working

The Kremlin has worked very hard since even before their full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 to both gain the world’s sympathy for their illegal and genocidal war against Ukraine, as well as to divert the West’s attention to the war and by so doing, disrupt their unified response. On 7 October 2023 they got their wish. Hamas unleashed a brutal and totally unexpected series of attacks on Israeli civilians from tunnels hidden deep below Gaza. Over 1,200 Israeli men, women and children were horrifically murdered in the most vile ways, and more than 200 others were kidnapped and taken back to some of those same tunnels. Most are still being held hostage, their fate unknown. After a brief period of shock, Israel launched hundreds of airstrikes into Gaza City, leveling entire neighborhoods and killing untold numbers of civilians. The IDF then launched a massive ground offensive into Gaza to root out and eliminate Hamas once and for all. Palestinian civilian casualties have been high, although exact numbers are impossible to determine at this time.
