The U.S. Is Failing Ukraine (and western democracy) Repost from December 2023
With our failure to support Ukraine, we have failed to support democracies worldwide and given Putin and other dictators an open road going forward
In recent days the United States Congress, led 99% by the Kremlin supporting GOP, has defeated a proposal by President Biden and the Democrats to send about $50 billion in critically needed aid to Ukraine. The reason for their “no” vote? They want to hold Ukraine aid hostage to their demands for increased border security and the building of a wall along the Mexican-United States border. They know full well that the National Security of the U.S. and Europe is directly tied to the outcome of the war in Ukraine, but they just don’t give a damn. The Fascist Party of the United States (FPOTUS) is, as always, playing to the most radical elements within their party, MAGA, who hold racist views of all non-white immigrants and see the mixing of races through immigration (legal and illegal) as the greatest threat to U.S. National Security, way above that of Putin’s Russia. Therefore, building a literal wall to keep out all people of color from entering the U.S. from the Latino south is their top priority in this Gilead wannabe nation of white Christian Nationalists.
Make no mistake, the whole “immigration is out of control” mantra of the far-right is a thinly vailed cover for blatant racism and xenophobia. It has almost nothing to do with National Security. Don’t get me wrong however. I do not support open borders and I am not in favor of lax or unenforced border security and immigration laws. Far from it. Open borders and unenforced immigration laws would create total chaos at the border that would rapidly seep into the rest of the nation. Our social support services and economy also could not support such large numbers of immigrants. We are seeing some of that strain on the system now, but to a much lesser degree than the FPOTUS would have us believe. Nevertheless, we must tighten border security and greatly increase our immigration laws. That is beyond dispute. But holding up desperately needed aid to Ukraine is not the solution.
In short, the FPOTUS must get their collective heads out of their ass and see the bigger picture beyond kissing Trump’s ring and appeasing their brainwashed cult of MAGA supporters. But I fear these self-serving and cowardly narcissists have long since sold their souls to greed and completely forgotten their oath of office to the Constitution. They now serve only one master: Trump. And that master demands total obedience to his treasonous wishes lest they be tossed under the bus and “primaried” out of office and forced to actually work for a living. That scary thought is just too terrifying for the vast majority of FPOTUS members, so they hold their noses and further disgrace themselves and the United States with every new vote they take to satisfy their new god.
