It's hard to tell Trump from Putin anymore
Donald Trump always admired dictators and tried to emulate their tough, no nonsense speech, even when it veered into blatant racism, homophobia, paranoia, xenophobia and outright threats. But recently he has gone even further into that black hole by almost directly quoting such historical luminaries as Adolph Hitler, Josef Stalin and Vladimir Putin. Those kinds of references never fail to rev up his delusional and violent MAGA base. Talk of violence against their shared enemies (which is everyone they don’t like), racist slurs, insults to disabled veterans and women all elicit cheers and applause from the crowds at his political rallies. I am sure the same kind of people cheered on Hitler and Mussolini at their political rallies as well, especially when they encouraged violence against Jews and all non German/Aryans. Trump’s encouragement of rally attendees to “beat the crap” out of anyone booing in the audience is like gas to a flame with these mindless cult members.
