NATO and Boots on the Ground in Ukraine
Macron finally said what should have been said 10 years ago
French President Emmanuel Macron recently stated that it is not off the table that NATO might someday deploy its forces to Ukraine and aid that nation in defending itself against Russian aggression and genocide. What should have been a no-brainer in 2014 after the first Russian invasion, and certainly needed to be said after the 24 February 2022 full-scale Russian invasion, has been greeted by most of NATO as a “bombshell” that required NATO leaders to swear to Czar Putin: “It ain’t so Vova.” They then quickly took turns debasing themselves before the Czar by swearing that they will never cross his red lines by directly supplying their country’s military forces to Ukraine and foolishly provoking his royal majesty. As I have said many times before but it apparently bears stating once again: NATO is, for the most part, lead by spineless political cowards who only seem to care about their unconscionable but lucrative business and personal ties to the Kremlin rather than the safety and security of their respective population’s.*
* I exclude the Baltic nations and Poland from that opinion.
