One of the many failures of the illegal and genocidal full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was the decision by European nations, especially those of the former Soviet Union, to reevaluate their relationship with Russia, NATO, the EU and the West generally. That has already happened with the Baltic states, Poland, and Romania, to name just a few. It is now happening with some different degrees of alarm with Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Armenia and perhaps most dramatically, Moldova.
