Introducing Moscow Mike Johnson (repost from last year)
U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives may be on the Russian payroll
Information from a 2018 campaign finance incident involving House Speaker Michael Johnson has once again resurfaced. This is in regard to something that seems to prove what we all have long suspected: MAGA Mike is also Moscow Mike, and his very Kremlin-friendly decisions are most likely tied to financial contributions he has received from at least one Russian operative working for Moscow. Are his repeated actions blocking further U.S. aid to Ukraine coming from orders issued inside the Kremlin? This documented incident of Russian contributions to Johnson may just be the tip of the iceberg. MAGA is of course trying to block any further inquiries into any link between Johnson and his Russian handlers. This man is a 100% traitor and Putin apparatchik, and should be treated as such. But just like his mentor, fellow traitor and cult leader Donald Trump, he will probably never be held accountable, and I fear the worst is yet to come. Meanwhile, Ukraine dies a little more each day and our democracy may very well be in it’s last months.
I open with a short but very informative video on this story from the Meidas Touch Network. To really get a sense of the scope of this issue, I urge you to watch this. It’s only 8:26:
Next is an Excellent story in Wired about Russia inciting MAGA over social media (where else?) by spreading disinformation and inflammatory stories about the U.S. border with Mexico and “uncontrolled immigration.” Their goals are to further divide and polarize America and eventually to cause a civil war, goals for which they have thus far been very successful. Of course MAGA is eating up all those lies and are becoming more enraged, more irrational, more unhinged, and more violent every day because, well…that’s what they do. An excerpt from this article:
“WIRED has also obtained exclusive access to data from two separate disinformation research groups that demonstrate a coordinated Russian effort on Telegram and X (formerly Twitter) to sow discord by pushing the narrative that the US is heading for civil war. The disinformation campaign began in earnest in late January, and expanded after Russian politicians spoke out when the US Supreme Court lifted an order by a lower court and sided with President Joe Biden’s administration to rule that US Border Patrol officers were allowed to take down razor-wire fencing erected by the Texas National Guard. Days later, when Texas governor Greg Abbott refused to stand down, former Russian president and prime minister Dmitry Medvedev, who is currently deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, claimed that the Texas border dispute is “another vivid example of the US hegemony getting weaker.”
“Establishing a People’s Republic of Texas is getting more and more real,” Medvedev added on X, claiming the situation could lead to “a bloody civil war which cost thousands upon thousands of lives.” Others chimed in: “It’s high time the American president, following in his predecessor Obama’s footsteps, declares ‘Texas must go’ and assembles an international coalition to liberate its residents in the name of democracy,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote on Telegram. Russian lawmaker Sergey Mironov even offered Texas help: “If necessary, we are ready to help with the independence referendum. And of course, we will recognize the People’s Republic of Texas if there is one,” Mironov wrote on X.
And an excerpt from Mary Trump writing here on Substack:
“Follow the money. In 2018, Johnson received campaign contributions from “American Ethane” company, 88% of which was owned by three Russian nationals: Konstantin Nikolaev, Mikhail Yuriev, and Andrey Kunatbaev. Johnson received at least three checks from the company. Why does that matter? At least one of the Russian partners, oligarch Nikolaev, had deep ties to Putin.
The sordid tale about the group of Russian nationals who circumvented U.S. political fundraising laws in order to deliver campaign contributions to a slate of MAGA-entrenched Congressmen somehow failed to attract the attention of the corporate media. Johnson’s campaign claims the money was returned after the facts were first revealed. But why did he take it in the first place?
In 2018, while Donald was still in the White House, his FCC fined American Ethane for donating to GOP candidates — a grand total of $9,500 in civil penalties... That’ll show ‘em.
Time for a closer look at Nikolaev’s motivations:
Nikolaev’s Financial ties to Russian Forces
In 2019, the oligarch's net worth was estimated at $1.2 billion according to Forbes.
Further, reports indicate Nikolaev funded Russian national Maria Butina, who was deported back to Russia after spending 15 months in U.S. penitentiaries for acting as a Russian foreign agent, cozying up to Republicans in order to shape U.S. policy.
In addition to being part owner of Globaltrans, which according to Newsweek is Russia's largest private rail operation, Nikolaev is also part owner of the Tula Cartridge Plant, a company “which has been supplying ammunition to Russian forces during its invasion of Ukraine.” What a remarkable coincidence.
Does it matter if Johnson has Russian ties?
As Speaker of the House, Johnson faces one of the largest foreign policy decisions of the last decade: whether the Republican-controlled House of Representatives allow the United States to continue funding Ukraine. Because of Johnson’s refusal to fund our ally thus far, Ukraine’s ability to achieve victory over our shared enemy now hangs in the balance. Mike Johnson’s record – from voting against the 2022 Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation bill, to supporting the prohibition of all security assistance to Ukraine – makes it look as if he works for Putin, instead of the American people and their national security interests.”
In summary, it is obvious to anyone with any common sense, critical thinking skills and who cares to look at both this campaign contribution to Mick Johnson by a known Kremlin operative and arms supplier to the Russian military, as well as Johnson’s consistent scuttling of all American aid to Ukraine and see that there is an obvious connection. In normal times, that would be enough to remove him from office pending an immediate counterintelligence investigation into any possible further Russian ties. However, these are not normal times and I seriously doubt that MAGA will allow any investigation or disciplinary action against Johnson. Why should they? Many of them not only openly support Putin and his genocidal war in Ukraine, but they may also be enjoying a lucrative side income from Moscow as well.
