Happy New Year!

2024 will be a pivotal year in world history.

There can be no doubt that 2024 will be one of the most significant years in recent world history. Two existential wars will still be raging in Ukraine and the Middle-East, crucial elections will be held in the United States, Russia and India, and the threat of a widening world war may become a reality. Whatever happens in the coming year, we will adapt and survive. Why do I say that? Because we always have and we always will. Adaptability, even to extreme changes in our environment, is built into our DNA as a species. Sure, the world may look a lot different at the end of 2024 and the challenges for democracy, human rights and the rule of law may become even greater than ever. But we will persevere and right our sinking ship eventually. I truly believe that, and I ask that you try to share my optimism for the future. There is enough doom and gloom to go around.
